About

I’m an award-winning writer, journalist and editor based in Berlin, Germany. I work for The Local Germany, covering news and politics, as well as writing in-depth features, travel and lifestyle articles.

I’ve written for publications including Grazia, Glamour, The Debrief, Refinery29, The Herald and Sunday Herald and Deutsche Welle. I have also contributed to BBC Radio Scotland.

I’m also a CELTA qualified English teacher and I do copywriting, editing and proofreading for clients.

I previously worked as a feature writer, reporter and news and content editor at the Evening Express in Aberdeen, and as a reporter and columnist at the Evening Times, Herald and Sunday Herald newspapers in Glasgow.

As part of the International Journalists Programme (IJP) , I worked as a foreign correspondent at Die Welt/N24 in Berlin.

I have covered social affairs, gender issues, including violence against women, politics, culture and lifestyle stories. I have written extensively about the refugee crisis and have received awards for my coverage. Major events I’ve covered include the 2014 Scottish independence referendum (for the Herald and Times Group), and the recent Irish abortion referendum. I am also interested in global development, travel and food.
